Focus Charity - March 2018 This month we could like to send a big THANK YOU to our local First Responders. We at Life Skills in ACTion can never relay our true gratitude for all they do and for the sacrifices they and their families make. We hope each and every firefighter, paramedic, and police office knows our appreciation! Please feel free to drop off a thank you card while visiting Life Skills in ACTion.

Parenting Tip The American Academy of Pediatrics has estimated that 1 in 10 teens will experience depression at some point. While many parents feel it just might be a part of the teen years and growing up, doctors are urging parents to have open dialogue with their child because it may be signs of pre-depressive symptoms.

Many things can trigger feelings of sadness - stress of performing well in school, arguments with parents or friends, social media, bullying, divorce, and neglect. There are many ways you can help your teen. Make sure they are getting the proper nutrition, sleeping enough, fitting in some exercise, encourage times of relaxing, and encourage open talks with them about how they are feeling. Also, be sure you talk with your child's doctor during their annual physical. There are now screenings doctors can give to children from ages 12 - 21.
